Welcoming Baby Brooks to the World


There is something incredibly special about photographing a family's newest addition, and Brooks' newborn session was no exception. Samantha and Jake brought their sweet baby boy to Vetter's Place in Higginsville, Missouri, to capture these precious first memories together. Born on June 16th, Brooks was already stealing hearts with his tiny features and adorable expressions.

Like many newborn photography sessions, we had a few little bumps at the beginning. Brooks wasn't the biggest fan of changing into different outfits, and honestly, that's completely normal. Babies don't care about schedules or photo sessions. They simply want to be fed, cuddled, and comforted, and that's exactly how it should be. One of the things I love most about newborn photography is embracing those moments instead of fighting them. Every baby has their own personality, and every session unfolds a little differently.

Samantha and Jake were so patient throughout the session, gently soothing Brooks whenever he needed a little extra comfort. Watching them care for their son with so much love was just as meaningful as the portraits themselves. Those quiet moments between poses often become some of my favorite memories from a session because they capture the beginning of a family's newest chapter.

Once Brooks settled in, he did such an amazing job. His tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, and peaceful expressions made every photograph feel timeless. Sessions like these remind me that perfection isn't what makes newborn photography beautiful. It's the little pauses, the cuddles, the feeding breaks, and the patience that tell the real story of welcoming a new baby into the family.

As a Missouri newborn photographer, I believe every newborn session should move at the baby's pace. There's never a rush, because these first few weeks pass so quickly. My goal is always to create a calm, relaxed environment where parents can simply enjoy this special season while I preserve the memories they'll treasure for years to come.

Brooks may have made us work a little at the beginning, but by the end of the session, he reminded us exactly why newborn photography is so rewarding. The images we created together beautifully capture just how loved he already is.
