Session Type Styling Tip
Family Sessions
Goal: Everyone looks coordinated, comfortable, and timeless

Let one person wear a pattern, everyone else in solids.

Keep kids comfy but avoid loud shoes or big graphics.

Mix textures across outfits for depth.
e.g. knit + denim + corduroy

Examples:

- Cream sweater + dark denim + brown boots
- Rust dress + denim jacket + neutral shoes
- Sage top + khaki pants + neutral sneakers
- Camel cardigan + black jeans + tan boots
Senior Sessions
Goal: Personality + Polish. Seniors can pull off one statement piece.

Layers look amazing: shackets, leather jackets, blazers, cardigans

For city sessions: clean lines and structured outfits photograph best.

Consider two looks if you want variety: One Classic, One Fun.

Examples:

- Denim + cream + boots
- Black top + camel jacket + dark jeans
- Burgundy sweater + light denim
- Flowy dress + cardigan + neutral boots

Maternity Sessions
Goal: softness, shape, and connection

Flowy fabrics create movement and look beautiful in natural light.

Solid Colors usually photograph best.

Best colors near trees/water: cream, taupe, blush, sage, muted blue.

Examples:

- Ivory dress + neutral boots
- Fitted ribbed dress + long cardigan
- Blush dress + denim jacket
- Cream top + flowy skirt + neutral sandals
Couples Sessions
Goal: Connection without competing outfits.

Pick a shared palette and mix shades, not identical outfits.

For city sessions: clean lines and structured outfits photograph best.

One person can be slightly more dressed up, the others slightly more simple.

Examples:

- Cream + denim + camel
- Rust + cream + dark denim
- Sage + tan + ivory
- Burgundy + charcoal + cream
- Navy + camel + white.

Quick Rules That Always Work
- Coordinate, don’t match. Pick 2–3 colors and let everyone wear different shades.
- Choose a neutral base (cream, tan, gray, denim, navy) and add 1–2 accent colors.
- Texture photographs beautifully: knits, denim, linen, corduroy, lace, suede.
- Avoid: neon, big logos, characters, and super busy prints.
- Limit patterns: one person in a pattern, everyone else in solids that match it.
- Don’t go all green near trees. It blends fast.
