Smiles, Giggles, and the Sweetest First Birthday Celebration
Cake smash sessions are always such a fun way to celebrate a first birthday, and Cooper’s cake smash session was no exception. I traveled to Higginsville, Missouri to The Vetter's Place Event Space, and it turned out to be the perfect setting for this milestone session.
We started with a clean, simple setup using a plain white backdrop to create a timeless look for some classic portraits. The Russell family brought along a beautiful smash cake and balloons, adding just the right touch of personality to the session. Cooper looked absolutely adorable, especially when his mom, Jocelyn, added a little crown that fit him perfectly. Those simple details made the session feel even more special.
One of my favorite parts of this session was photographing Cooper in front of the venue’s gorgeous brick wall. Vetter’s Place has such a unique and beautiful texture, and it created the perfect contrast to the softer portraits. Cooper completely stole the show smiling, giggling, and crawling around with so much personality. He made every shot feel effortless and full of life.
Then it was time for the main event; the cake smash. Back on the white backdrop, Cooper was more than ready to dig in. The excitement on his face as he explored the cake was priceless. From tiny hands grabbing frosting to big smiles covered in cake, every moment was full of joy and curiosity. These are the kinds of sessions that are just as fun to capture as they are to watch unfold.
As a milestone photographer in Missouri, sessions like this are some of my favorites. First birthdays are such a big moment, and cake smash sessions are the perfect way to celebrate and preserve that stage of life. Cooper brought so much energy and sweetness to this session, and it truly made the entire experience unforgettable.
