Golden Hour, Beautiful Families, and a Perfect Fall Weekend
What an incredible weekend of Fall Mini Sessions at Knob Noster State Park! I had the pleasure of photographing so many wonderful families, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up this year's fall minis. Between the beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, and all the laughter and smiles, everything came together to make this weekend one I'll remember for a long time.
One of my favorite things about fall family photography in Missouri is how beautiful the natural surroundings become this time of year. Knob Noster State Park is already one of my favorite places to photograph, but during the fall, it has a charm all its own. The trees, natural textures, and peaceful woodland setting create such a beautiful backdrop for family portraits. We also timed our sessions around golden hour, when the sun sits lower in the sky and creates that soft, warm glow that makes outdoor photos feel so special.
Every family who joined me brought something different to their session, and that's exactly what I love about photography. Some families are full of energy and laughter, while others bring a quieter, more relaxed feeling. No two families are alike, and I never want their photographs to feel like they are.
Something I really enjoy about my photography is the creative process that happens after the session. I don't edit every family's pictures exactly the same way, because every family has its own personality, style, and story. When I'm photographing a session, I'm already imagining how I want the final images to look. I pay attention to the lighting, the colors of their outfits, the surroundings, and the overall feeling of the moment.
Sometimes that means bringing out the warm, golden tones of the evening sun. Other times, I might lean into softer colors or richer, moodier tones that complement the family's style. I want every gallery to feel beautiful and consistent with my photography while still reflecting the people in front of my camera. That's one of my favorite parts of being a photographer, getting to bring the vision I see during the session to life through editing.
What made this weekend even better was how much fun everyone had. The families were wonderful to work with, the weather cooperated beautifully, and there were so many genuine smiles and sweet moments to capture. Those are the things that make family mini sessions so rewarding.
Thank you to every family who joined me for this year's Fall Mini Sessions! You made this weekend so much fun, and I couldn't have imagined a better way to celebrate the season. I'm so grateful you trusted me to capture these beautiful memories for your families.
