Three Generations, Big Smiles, and Family Fun at Marr Park


There’s something special about photographing a family that feels like your own, and that’s exactly how this family photoshoot with Kat’s family felt. We met at Marr Park in Warrensburg, Missouri for an afternoon session that was full of energy, laughter, and love. Even though the skies were overcast and the light was soft and muted, the family brought all the brightness we needed. Their smiles and energy more than made up for the lack of sunshine.


This session was a celebration of three generations coming together. Kat and her husband were joined by her parents, her brother and his wife, and their combined seven kids; five of Kat’s and two of her brother’s. With that many kids running around, there was never a dull moment. Between the giggles, playful moments, and spontaneous hugs, every photo felt alive with connection and warmth.


What stood out to me most was how comfortable and natural this family was in front of the camera. They didn’t hold back their laughter or worry about the clouds overhead, they just enjoyed being together. The kids were full of personality, each one bringing something unique to the session, and it made every shot feel real and full of life. There’s something about letting kids just be kids that always leads to the most memorable images.


Despite the gray skies, Marr Park provided the perfect backdrop. The muted light softened everything, allowing the family’s expressions and energy to take center stage. Every time I looked through the lens, I could feel the joy radiating from them. By the end of the session, I caught myself smiling as much as they were, it truly felt like photographing my own family.

Sessions like this remind me why I love being a family photographer in Warrensburg. It’s not just about capturing portraits, it’s about preserving moments of joy, connection, and togetherness that families will treasure for years to come.
