Three Seniors, One Beautiful Evening, and a Little Creative Freedom


Some sessions are about capturing a milestone, while others also give me the chance to experiment, grow, and try something new behind the camera. My senior session with Kenadi, Chloe, and Ava at Hazel Hill Farm was a little bit of both, and I had such a great time creating these images with them.

It was a cloudy day, but the temperature felt amazing, making it perfect for spending time exploring the farm. I actually love photographing on cloudy days because the clouds act like a giant diffuser for the sun. Instead of harsh shadows and bright highlights, you get soft, even light that is incredibly flattering for portraits. It gave us the freedom to move around Hazel Hill Farm and take advantage of everything the property had to offer.

And the farm was definitely showing off!

We moved from the open fields to the flowers and eventually made our way down to one of my favorite spots, the dock overlooking the pond. Each area gave the girls a completely different look without having to leave the property. That's one of the reasons Hazel Hill Farm continues to be one of my favorite locations for senior photography. The variety of textures, landscapes, and natural backdrops makes it possible to create a gallery that feels diverse while still flowing together beautifully.

What made this session especially fun for me was how willing Kenadi, Chloe, and Ava were to let me be creative. As I continue growing my senior photography sessions, I want to experiment with different poses, compositions, and ways of capturing personality. These three gave me the freedom to try ideas, and they absolutely nailed everything I asked them to do.

We photographed the girls together, capturing their laughter and friendship, but I also spent time with each of them individually. That gave each girl the opportunity to let her own personality come through while still creating photos that documented this season they're experiencing together.

And they certainly didn't make my job difficult. Kenadi, Chloe, and Ava are all absolutely gorgeous, comfortable in front of the camera, and so much fun to photograph. Between their personalities, the beautiful scenery, and the creative freedom they gave me, the entire session felt easy.

Senior year is such a unique season of life. You're celebrating friendships and everything that brought you to this point while also preparing for whatever comes next. Getting to capture both sides of that story is one of the things I'm learning to love most about senior photography.
