Fall Weather, Beautiful Memories, and a Graduation Worth Celebrating
Graduation sessions are always such a special milestone to capture, and Odily's UCM senior session at Knob Noster State Park was no exception! Odily is graduating from the University of Central Missouri, and I had the pleasure of spending time with her and her parents while celebrating this exciting chapter in her life.
We started our session at the Opossum Hollow Woodland Area, one of my favorite spots in Knob Noster State Park. The tall trees created such a beautiful natural backdrop, and the tree-lined road gave us another gorgeous setting for her portraits. There's something about those towering trees that makes photos feel timeless, especially during the fall when the scenery has that peaceful, cozy feeling.
Now, the weather definitely reminded us that fall had arrived! It was chilly, the wind wasn't doing us any favors, especially when it came to keeping hair in place, and the clouds kept blocking the sunshine. But honestly, cloudy days can be wonderful for photography. The clouds help soften the light, reducing harsh shadows and allowing natural expressions and beautiful details to stand out. We just had to work around those occasional gusts of wind!
One of the sweetest parts of this session was getting to spend time with Odily and her mom, who is also named Odily! They were both so much fun to be around, and I loved watching them laugh and enjoy the experience together. Having her parents there made the session even more meaningful because graduation isn't just a celebration for the graduate. It's also a special moment for the family who has supported them along the way.
After exploring Opossum Hollow, we headed across the park to Lake Buteo, where the water and open scenery gave us a completely different look. I love using multiple areas of Knob Noster State Park because the variety allows us to create a gallery filled with different backgrounds without having to travel far.
We captured some beautiful portraits by the water, but one of my favorite parts was when Odily put on her graduation gown and we had some fun tossing her cap into the air! Those playful moments always bring out the biggest smiles and make graduation photos feel like a true celebration.
As a Missouri senior and graduation photographer, I love capturing these milestones because they represent so much hard work, dedication, and excitement for the future. Whether it's high school or college graduation, every graduate deserves photographs that celebrate their accomplishments and personality.
Odily, congratulations on your graduation from UCM! Thank you to you and your family for making this session so much fun, even with the chilly weather and wind. I'm wishing you nothing but happiness and success in your next chapter!
