Laughter, Love, and the Joy of Being Together


Some sessions leave you smiling long after they’re over, and this was definitely one of them. Tara, her fiancé Aaron, and Tara’s two children joined me at Hazel Hill Farm for a family session that Tara won through one of my giveaways. From the moment we started, it was clear this family was going to make the session unforgettable.

The evening at Hazel Hill Farm was beautiful, providing the perfect backdrop for a family that brought so much energy and joy. The open fields, natural scenery, and warm light gave us a gorgeous setting, but honestly, the people in front of the camera were what made this session so special.

Calling this family fun almost feels like an understatement. There was laughter from beginning to end, and every interaction felt natural and genuine. One of my favorite things about family photography is capturing those real moments; the ones that aren’t forced or posed. Those are the images that tell a story, and this family gave me so many of them.

From piggyback rides to pretending to be airplanes, everyone jumped right into the experience. The kids were full of energy, Tara and Aaron embraced every moment, and together they created the kind of memories that make a session feel less like a photoshoot and more like an evening spent having fun together. Every smile, laugh, and playful moment reflected the love they share as a family.

What stood out most was how comfortable they were simply being themselves. There was no pressure to be perfect. Instead, they focused on enjoying each other, and that authenticity shines through in every image. Those are the photos families treasure the most years later; the ones that remind them of how life felt in that moment.

As a family photographer in Missouri, sessions like this are some of my favorites because they capture the heart of what family photography is all about. It’s not just about getting everyone to look at the camera. It’s about preserving connection, laughter, and the little moments that make a family unique.

Tara and Aaron’s family session was filled with joy, laughter, and so much love, and I’m so grateful I got to capture these memories for them.
