Country Charm, Gorgeous Sunsets, and One Stunning Senior
Some senior sessions are just unforgettable, and Vivian's senior session in Holden, Missouri, was definitely one of them! I had the pleasure of photographing Vivian on her family's beautiful property, and let me tell you, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Between the gorgeous golden-hour lighting, rustic countryside backdrops, and Vivian looking stunning in every single photo, I couldn't have asked for a better evening.
The weather was just about perfect, too! It was cool enough to feel like fall but not so cold that we needed jackets. That made exploring the property and moving between locations so much more enjoyable.
We started in a peaceful little field surrounded by trees, where there was the cutest swing tucked into the scenery. Vivian wore a beautiful brown floral dress that complemented the natural colors perfectly. The sunlight was peeking through the trees, creating that soft, warm glow that I absolutely love in outdoor senior photography. Vivian looked so natural and beautiful, and I knew right away we were going to capture some amazing pictures.
From there, we headed toward an old railroad track area. Although the tracks had been removed, the trees had created this incredible natural tunnel that made such a unique backdrop. We also discovered some fallen trees that were perfect for a few seated portraits. The way the sunlight filtered through the branches and landed on Vivian was absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes the best photography spots are the ones you discover while exploring!
As the sun started getting lower, we headed back toward the house, where the view was simply breathtaking. While Vivian changed outfits, I had a moment to take in the beautiful landscape and watch the evening light begin to transform everything. That's one of my favorite things about golden-hour senior sessions. The light becomes softer and warmer as sunset approaches, creating beautiful depth and a natural glow that makes portraits feel almost magical.
Vivian came back wearing the cutest white dress, paired with an adorable cowboy hat and cowboy boots. It was the perfect outfit for the countryside setting! We took some fun photos with a tractor on the property before letting Vivian twirl, laugh, and simply enjoy the sunset. Those carefree moments ended up creating some of my absolute favorite images from the evening.
Another thing that made this session so special was Vivian's mom, Rachel. She was the best helper, fixing Vivian's hair, making sure everything looked perfect, and being her biggest cheerleader behind the camera. I absolutely love when parents get involved and make the experience even more fun.
Vivian, you were absolutely stunning, and I had the best time capturing your senior portraits! Thank you to Rachel and the entire Lawless family for welcoming me onto your beautiful property. I hope I get the opportunity to photograph your family again in the future!
